At Birmingham Martial Arts, we offer the leading style of Karate with a 21st century approach, Wado Ryu Sport Karate. Wado Ryu translates as “the way of peace and harmony”. Wado Ryu is taught all over the world, it is a style of Karate derived from a mixture of Japanese Karate and Ju-jitsu. Wado Ryu is a free flowing and dynamic style of Karate that is a lot less rigid
than other traditional forms of Martial Arts.
One of the main differences of Wado Ryu compared to other forms of Karate and Martial Arts is its use of evasion techniques which include manoeuvres to avoid being hit where possible and still maintaining the ability to strike your opponent back efficiently. Our trained instructors will show you the best practices for evading attacks and counter attacking in seamless moves.

Our Karate classes will allow students to learn the basic skills and work their way up to achieve black belt status.
